Ashleigh and Elliott’s Wedding Details
Tell us how you met…
“We met when we were about 18 through mutual friends, but did not get together until a few years afterwards.”
What was your overall plan for the wedding? What did you want for the day?
“We really wanted our wedding to be less formal than a traditional wedding day, as we wanted our guests (and ourselves) to feel relaxed and at ease. We pictured it to be quite outdoorsy and fun and never wanted our guests to be bored.”
Any funny stories from the wedding?
“We had a bit of a suit dilemma two days before the wedding. One of Elliott’s groomsmen lives in the Lake District, and had not tried his suit on for a few months. He as adamant that it would fit, but we asked him to come over and try it on as soon as he came back for the wedding to make sure. The suit did not fit. At all. He could hardly even get his arms into his waistcoat, let alone do it up! So at 9:30pm we scrolled through pages of similar suits on the internet trying to find something that would be appropriate, and frantically called/emailed emergency tailors in the area with no luck. As we were getting into bed that night, Elliott decided to check the other suits to see what size they were. It turned out he had given his groomsmen the wrong suit to try on… When he came back round to try HIS suit on… It fit perfectly!“
How did you choose your photographer?
“We had initially decided on a different photographer that had been recommended by a friend. She was quite a new photographer and didn’t have much of a portfolio at the time… But the price fit well with our budget and we had been told that she was very good. We attended a wedding fayre later in the year, and met Chris and Shazia. We were sold instantly when we saw their albums and realised how perfectly they fit with the style of wedding that we wanted. We arranged a sit down meeting with Chris at our house, and chatted comfortably to him for hours. We knew that he was the one, and cancelled our first photographer immediately.”
How did you choose your venue? Would you recommend the venue to future couples?
“I first saw a single picture of the venue in a wedding magazine, and felt that it was just what we wanted. I researched the venue and we arranged to see it along with three others in the area that day. There was just no comparison for what we wanted and as soon as we arrived neither of us could take the smiles off our faces. It was perfect! The staff were incredible throughout he whole planning process and on the day, and we would highly recommend High House Farm Brewery to anyone!”
Advice for other brides and grooms?
“We both had the most perfect day and have not stopped talking about it since. The most important thing for us was that the day was exactly what we wanted. There are so many “should do’s” and traditions in a wedding and it’s easy to feel pressure to do what someone else wants you to do, or accept something that might not be exactly what you had in mind. Our advice would be just don’t. Don’t accept any less than what you were picturing because the memories will last forever, and you don’t want to regret not having something exactly how you wanted it. Another piece of advice would be just to enjoy the day! I kept stopping during our wedding and just looking around at everyone and thinking “We did this!” It’s your day, so make it your own!”
The photographs you see above were taken on two Canon 5D mk iii cameras using a variety of different lenses.
The couple booked the Standard Combine Package which gave them one photographer and a wedding movie for the whole day.
