If you’re reading this and wondering what the hell Welly Wanging is then read on… did you know they had Welly Wanging World Championships?? It wasn’t the world championship today though, instead it was Kevin and Leanne’s wedding down in North Yorkshire.
We arrived at Leanne’s parent’s house around mid morning to capture some photos of the bride to be and her bridesmaids getting ready. It was blue skies and beaming sunshine outside so we popped outside to capture some photos of the incredible flowers that had been put together by Natural Flavours. Back inside the bride was just about ready to get into her dress so after a few photos of the dress and the brides shoes… we had just enough time for a few shots of Leanne in her dress before everyone headed off to the church.
The church was only a five minute walk around the corner which made for some great photos of the bridal party walking around to the church. It was a typical small village wedding where it seemed like everyone in the village was waiting outside the church to capture a quick photo. Inside the church it was a lovely ceremony and once they were pronounced man and wife, we all headed back round to the house where a huge marquee had been set up in the field behind the house.
We did all of the group photographs as soon as we could so that guests could enjoy the day with me bothering them for photos. After the group photographs, we headed off with Kevin and Leanne to do their couple photos. As there was so much within a five minute walk on the farm itself we took a variety of different photos making use of everything we had on offer.
After this the guests headed in for the speeches. This day was quite eventful. They had decided to have a bake off where guests brought cakes and they had prizes for the winners. They also had a “vegetable” competition where guests had to make something cool out of vegetables and there were also prizes for this too.
After the meal came the Welly Wanging. Now the aim of the game was to throw a wellington boot as far as possible with someone in charge of measuring the distance and another person recording the results. This was a great laugh and again, there were prizes for the winners.
As the night time drew in Kevin and Leanne took to the dance floor for their first dance before we headed outside to take some photos with the sparklers. Once guests saw us though they all wanted to be part of it so we managed to get a few photos with the guests involved before we wound down for the night on what had been yet another incredible day.
The photographs you see above were taken on a Canon 5D mk iii and a Canon 7D mk ii camera using a variety of different lenses.
The couple booked the Single Photographer Package which gave them one photographer for the whole day.
