Natalie and David’s Wedding Details
Tell us how you met…
“After 23 years of living in the same small town, strangely enough we’d never laid eyes on each other until a Christmas party, two days after I returned from teaching in South Korea. I wasn’t sure whether I would be staying in England or returning to South East Asia but he gave me a reason to stay- the rest is history!”
What was your overall plan for the wedding? What did you want for the day?
“After being let down by three venues prior to discovering Doxford Barns, we were worried that things wouldn’t fall into place but it all worked out for the best and Doxford Barns couldn’t have been more perfect for our combination of rustic glam. We knew from the start that we wanted a wedding weekend so we could share it more closely with family and friends.”
Any funny stories from the wedding?
“You probably had to be there but my dad mistakenly saying North Korea instead of South Korea during his speech was hilarious- the panic followed by nervous humour on his face was a picture.
David and I always have a giggle whenever we watch our video or see photos of us cutting the cake as I sliced through it from top to bottom without a care in the world. Huge knife in hand which I didn’t look at once- far too busy smiling for photos and feeling blissfully happy whilst David was his usual cautious self, panicking in case I slipped with the knife; opposites definitely do attract!
Although it’s not quite funny yet, I hope we can laugh about me being 45 minutes late in the future.”
How did you choose your photographer?
“We had in mind someone who was recommended by our original venue, I had my heart set on the style of their images but when we met, the chemistry wasn’t there. I’m a strong believer that if you don’t fee comfortable, it will show in your photos and you want to feel 100% amazing and relaxed on the day. We initially came across Chocolate Chip when we were searching for a videographer and their relaxed and unique style suited us to the ground. We talked for a couple of hours at our first meeting and it felt like ten minutes- we knew they were right for our day. We trusted them both intrinsically and we’re absolutely thrilled with everything.”
How did you choose your venue? Would you recommend the venue to future couples?
“As I previously mentioned, we had a small disaster when it came to venues until we found Doxford Barns. I can confidently say I’m familiar with every venue in Nothumberland now and we’ve probably visited most! I’m very sentimental and believe you will get the feeling when you’re at the right place and now I believe in fate. Doxford Barns wasn’t around when we booked our first venue, hence why we couldn’t have considered it but the feeling we both got when we walked into the Threshing Hall was magical and it was a feeling I had been waiting for. It was worth every tear and worry that was shed along the way. We would 100% recommended Doxford Barns, the staff were outstanding and the venue which everyone commented on was breathtaking.”
Advice for other brides and grooms?
“No matter what happens along the way, you will make it and it will be the most perfect day. Always remember why you are getting married and enjoy every single second of your wedding day. If you can, find time on the day to spend five minutes together alone, it will be precious. I really didn’t think being married would feel different but it feels so much better. You are so lucky to have found the person you want to spend forever with- Good Luck!”
The photographs you see above were taken on two Canon 5D mk iii’s using a variety of different lenses.
The couple booked the Twin Photographer Package which gave them two photographers for the whole day.
